There is just something magical about winter weddings – especially when they are at a venue as stunning and unique as The Palm House at Franklin Park Conservatory right here in Columbus, Ohio. For starters, I'll share a little preview of how beautifully styled the bride Erin and her bridesmaids were with their pale dusty blue dresses and perfectly paired bouquets from Rose Bredl Flowers and Garden.

Erin's bridal bouquet was one of my favorites! Even though it was primarily white, I love all the texture and dimension and the little berries and thistle for just a touch of blue. In my opinion it was the perfect way to reflect the winter season without giving a holiday vibe.

Erin could not have been more excited for this big day to finally arrive!

Time to pop the champagne and get this party started! I love capturing these simple little snapshot moments throughout the day as it all goes so fast! Next, Erin is ready to get into her wedding gown! Meanwhile, my second photographer was down the hall with Zach and his groomsmen getting ready for the big reveal soon.

Such a fun and exciting moment with her mom and sister! Safe to say I think she's ready to go see her groom! Not before I capture just a few more portraits in the hotel room. The sunshine was pouring through the windows so nicely and I had to take advantage of it.

Setting aside the time early in the day to do a first-look with your parents or other close family allows for some sweet moments beyond just the posed portraits you'll have taken together at some point.

There are many beautiful spots for photos at Hotel LeVeque, but for their first look together I chose the lobby since it wasn't crowded and the light pouring through the windows was so nice.

Candid photos of everyone interacting and having fun throughout the day are great – and I definitely capture those!  Having at least one great posed photo of the full wedding party together where everyone looks great, however,  is always a must for me as well. The sofas and lounge chairs in the hotel's lobby are perfect for a classic and stylish group shot with your full wedding  party. I also just love these sweet expressions the bride and groom are sharing with one another.

After a fun morning at Hotel Leveque getting ready and capturing some portraits, it was off to the Franklin Park Conservatory to get married! First, I captured some group portraits with family and the bridal party in the Palm House before the ceremony, then spent some time with just Erin and Zach walking around and exploring the various biomes throughout the Conservatory. It really is such a cool place!

Winter wedding in Ohio, but make it tropical!

The soft dusty blue bridesmaids dresses paired perfectly with these bouquets!

Sometimes that light hits just right! The guys looked so sharp and they were actually just hanging around talking when I decided to capture this group shot.

We were so lucky to have such a pretty golden sunset that day, so shortly before the ceremony we headed outside for a few chilly but cozy portraits.

It's just about GO TIME! Which means time to head inside as guests will be arriving soon to watch them say "We Do!" A quick moment with Mom before the big aisle walk!

The Palm House is just so beautiful and relaxing. I love the way the air feels and this huge tree in the middle of the room that towers above and creates a canopy over everything. It's also really cool to see this room transform as the sun sets. It's a completely new vibe at night!

Proof that a doing a first look prior to your ceremony to allow yourselves more time together on your special day, does not diminish the excitement of seeing each other when walking down the aisle!

It was completely dark once the ceremony started and though I didn't want to distract from the ceremony, I wanted these important moments captured beautifully so we set up a soft light high up and just out of frame. It allowed us to cast some light on the couple and their wedding party, while keeping the mood of the space.

Congrats to the newlyweds! It doesn't get more joyful than this! I just love this series of images of them exiting their ceremony.

Now to see the Palm House transform from a bright and airy greenhouse, to a romantic candlelit tropical paradise!

Now it's time to really get this party started! The curved staircase is illuminated and adds a little magic and pop of color to the sea of green.

I love how you can just feel the energy in these images!

I also remember moments like these at my own wedding when I just wanted time to slow down a bit so I could pause and take it all in!

Can you even a imagine a more magical setting for the best party you'll probably ever throw together? This series of photos right here is the perfect example of how much fun I hope every single couple has on their special day! Congrats to Erin and Zach! And thank you again for trusting me as your photographer.
