About Kimberly 1

Kimberly Potterf, Owner and Lead Photographer

After initially beginning my creative career as a graphic designer, I switched gears to jump headfirst into what I truly loved most – photography.  Over 15 years and hundreds of weddings and portraits later, I’ve never looked back! I feel very lucky and grateful to still love what I do and I consider it both an honor and huge responsibility to be trusted with documenting such special moments in people’s lives.

Life Beyond the Lens

I live with my husband and  sweet pup in a little old house in the Short North that we spent many years renovating together ourselves. So while we are happy city dwellers at the moment, we share an even greater love for travel – especially the outdoors and wide open spaces. We are always seizing opportunities to escape to the desert, mountains, or a coastline in our camper or a quirky BnB. Not much beats a relaxing evening huddled around a campfire watching sunset with our pup!

Traveling in general has been one of my greatest joys and educators in life – and the more active and adventurous the better! I’d take an oceanside yurt or tent with miles of hiking over a posh hotel with room service any day. I’ve been so fortunate to see so many amazing places around the world and those experiences have definitely shaped how I see things as an artist.

Your Experience
I believe that creating great images begins with allowing authentic moments to happen. Weddings are inherently filled with a lot of emotion. The behind-the-scenes planning and preparation leading up to the big day can play a big role in allowing you to be more present in those once-in-a-lifetime moments when they happen. Artistically, I do enjoy capturing all the “pretty stuff” like your portraits and carefully styled details, but I strive to go much beyond that by capturing all the moments that truly matter.

Aesthetic
Timeless over trendy, yet fresh and modern. I want to capture the way you feel, not just the way you look. Sometimes that is done best with natural light, and other times that requires a more dynamic lighting set-up. I want your images to reflect you and the vibe of your day. So whether it’s a barn, ballroom, rooftop, under a tree or in your own home, you can always expect thoughtfully composed, expertly lit, natural-looking images that will stand the test of time.
