Looking for something a little different for your senior portrait session? For images that commemorate the now and celebrate future life goals and dreams, personalization and location are key. I loved everything about these sessions with Alena - by land, sea, and sky!

An ambitious young woman of many talents and interests, she definitely wanted something unique to capture her love for the sky and beach. I was definitely up for the challenge!

We planned her full senior session in two parts, so we could capture both locations with optimal lighting.

An aviation themed portrait session was a first for me and it was so much fun playing around with poses to incorporate the plane. We definitely took advantage of the gorgeous sunset light, but mixed in some other lighting techniques to achieve various looks.

Loved the crisp linen pantsuit she chose.for this session! Such a polished look that was perfect or this concept.

Next up for this California dreamin' Ohio girl - beach vibes! Ok well maybe not exactly Laguna Beach, but I'd say we successfully pulled off "warm summer nights at the lake". Same same? Regardless, I'd say she nailed it! With a fresh sunkissed vacation glow and the most gorgeous gold dress, all the stars aligned for a perfect shoot.

The dock and rocky shoreline provided a nice variety of backdrops. I love the way the water sparkles and creates such a beautiful ethereal quality to her photos.

Something to keep in mind when scheduling your perfect senior session is timing. It can drastically affect the overall aesthetic and mood of your session. These last several images in the water were taken just after sunset during twilight, or sometimes referred to as "blue hour". This is a great time to shoot to capture a more moody quality, or even the lights in a city setting. Most sessions are scheduled within the last three hours of the day before sunset so keep that in mind.
